With our heavyweight yak wool socks, you’ll never have cold feet again: Even in winter, the heavyweight construction keeps you reliably warm. They wick away moisture and excess heat, so your feet won’t overheat and will stay dry. The 100% yak wool we use isn’t just super warm—it’s also incredibly soft and reduces friction against the skin. It’s antibacterial and highly odor-resistant, so you can wear them odor-free for up to two weeks on your trekking trip. That makes our heavyweight socks the perfect companions for winter mountaineering, ice climbing, and ski touring—or simply as super-warm socks to wear in your winter boots.
Important Note: Our socks use a special knitting technique and a unique yarn structure to provide greater durability than traditional yak wool socks. However, socks made of fine animal fibers such as yak wool are generally less durable than, for example, virgin wool socks. This is because fine-hair wools like yak, camel, cashmere, or alpaca have much finer fibers than virgin wool, which makes them more prone to breaking. Yak wool, however, resists friction well. Because we’ve further improved abrasion resistance with a special yarn structure, our yak wool socks offer by far the longest lifespan of any fine-hair sock.
However, they don’t match the lifespan of a wool-polyamide blend. With heavy use, you may need to replace the socks as early as one year. Only you can decide whether the significantly greater comfort, improved moisture management, and superior warmth are worth the annual investment.
